Crash-test for ‘Washed Out’

Igor | May 11th, 2011

Washed Out – the chief mastermind behind recent chillwave revolution – is set to release his debut album soon. This news is easy to skip but I’d guess that we are still underestimating the importance of being idle ‘diy-er’ in modern music.

What was set to be another up and coming experiment, has turned into a global phenomenon with dozens of imitators all around the world. The funniest thing is that Ernest Greene (aka Washed Out) didn’t even dare to dream about worldwide recognition when he started torturing vintage keyboards in his remote countryside house a few years ago. He had been even refusing to go on touring the country until he realized how popular his music was judging by the astonishing amount of views on YouTube.

Having this in mind, it would be interesting to see next steps of a powerful prodigy as his first album (called ‘Whiting And Without’ and released on Sub Pop label) goes on sale and his new global tour begins. We are living in the times of bedroom rock stars and Washed Out has all chances to prove that YouTube heroes have stamina to survive a real life crash-test.
