For the Grown Up Sassy Reader

Lee | May 26th, 2011

As a young tweeny-bopper I waited on pins and needles for each month’s Sassy magazine to arrive in the mail.  It brought the world of garage rock and grunge fashion right to my suburban doorstep and into my greedy little fingers.  The cover with Kurt and Courtney is emblazoned in my mind forever. Sadly, after only a few years of distribution Sassy was absorbed into another cookie cutter teen mag.

Jane Pratt's first editor photo for Sassy.

A few years later Jane magazine filled my need for digestible bits of pop culture for my slightly more grown-up and polished self.  Then Jane went belly up. However, I’m pleased to see that Jane Pratt, founding Sassy editor and later editor of Jane, has resurfaced with an online mag, xoJane.com

Now, it’s not everything that Jane was, it has a more columns that are just total ramblings and personal opinion.  But it does serve up a dose of savvy feminism while recommending lipstick colors, discussing serious social issues, and generally being a fun and satisfying fluffy magazine read.  Thank god for the internet for bringing comeback kids to their niche market and fans!
