Kate and Anna McGarrigle, Loudon Wainwrigth III, Rufus Wainwright, Martha Wainwright. I am in love with this musical family, every member. The release of the Tell My Sister three disc set of two incredible remastered Kate & Anna McGarrigle albums and a disc of unreleased tracks of b-sides has reminded me how dear these singing sisters and their kin are to my heart.

I was introduced to the McGarrigles by my mother who loved the sisters’ sweet voices. I came to love Loudon Wainwright’s light-hearted ditties later on and I discovered Rufus Wainwright on my own in high school. It took me a little while to connect the dots that Rufus was a product of these two venerable musicians. But of course if makes total sense. Lastly (but not least) I discovered Martha, an incredible folk singer in her own right.
