Before I begin, let me explain why I chose to write about Instagram.
I call it a phenomenon because Instagram is much more than one app the way Facebook is much more than one site. Instagram has had well over 100,000 downloads in the first two weeks. I’m a latecomer as I downloaded the app as a result of all the hype and used it once because I can’t be bothered to register to sites, apps, bank accounts..etc.
So what is Instagram and why is it such a huge success? Instagram is an iPhone app that enables the user to snap a photo , enhance it with eleven different possible effects, share it on the various social networks, as well as on Instagram itself, which has quickly turned into a social network of its own.
What’s new about it? How is it different from other camera apps?
Tech bloggers say that it’s the first one that works great with all social media. And is super simple. So it’s more about sharing than taking photos. So it’s more about social media and effects? Woah.. I thought this wouldn’t be taken any further. Photography fans – fight for your rights!
