Vancouver has this tendency towards the development of web series that do pretty darn well. Sanctuary is now four seasons in on Sci Fi, Riese looks like Space is about to pick it up and now there’s Divine.
Due to kick off this summer, Divine could very well be the next big thing to hit TV off your laptop screen. The plot is pretty simple, a priest, coping with his own loss of faith, runs into the resurrection of a seemingly immortal being. He gets tossed into the fray involving the church, good, evil, demons and this big immortal dude and away you go.
The cast is solid, built up from a community of Vancouver actors who you’ve seen on the likes of Stargate, Smallville, Fringe and Supernatural. The vibe from this, suggests that Divine could easily be the big platform for Dan Payne‘s career to pick up big time, as the mysterious Immortal, Divine.
It’s easy enough to write off projects like this but the ingredients seem to mesh really well from what I’ve seen and heard. Plus, let’s be honest, with Adobe going to a subscription based format for access to some of their programs, the markets going to explode for people trying to develop their own stuff online. So when the market floods, you’re going to need to stand out and that’s exactly what Divine does already and it’s not even launched yet.
