I’ve been going to a lot of book launches recently and I find them boring to the extreme. I usually last about 15 minutes before I switch off and start looking forward to the after party. I’m willing to bet that the only reason anyone goes to these things is to get drunk afterwards, but they have to pretend to be into literature to justify their alcoholism.
Anyway, seeing as most of these presentations take place downstairs at La Central, Bar Raval, just around the corner in c/Doctor Dou 19 is where we always end up until it closes at 2. If you’re into publishers like Alpha Decay or Blackie Books, writers like Javier Calvo or Patricio Pron and want to get drunk with them, find out when there’s a presentation, skip it, and head straight to the bar around 10. No one will mind.
