Quentin Tarantino has never tried to make a secret of his long-lasting love affair with the iconic action movies from Hong Kong.
That’s why new documentary produced by French directors Jac & Johan wouldn’t probable become the biggest sensation of the year. However they do prove the case that there have been Asian equivalents to almost all of Tarantinos’ movies. One of the main castigators from the film is a Chinese director Ringo Lam who literally enjoys speculating about direct parallels between his cult ‘City on Fire’ and the American replication called ‘Reservoir Dogs’. Having watched this witty and sometimes enormously funny film, I nevertheless had a feeling that it was fairly biased as they didn’t give any chance to Tarantino himself to defend his position.
