Where once there was the academy of Fine Arts’ sheds, now you’ll find the unassumingly excellent Spokojna. The owners have solved the question of alfresco eating in Poland (‘What to do if the summer season turns out to be very short?’) with an elegant solution: they took some seats indoors but created a nice waterproof outside area. Dishes are mainly Italian – so pizza and pasta would be the best choice. It’s all very informal: if you need some shade, just shuffle the table to where there is some.

Located a few miles from the centre, it’s worth checking out while visiting the Uprising Museum.
