It’s an interesting situation for artists these days. With the increased rise of social networking and internets 2, 3 and 4.0 in effect, how do you effectively promote yourself while still retaining your flavor.
Let us then look at local actress, poet and women about town, Sara Bynoe.
I was first introduced to Sara’s work years ago as she rose to acclaim behind her teen angst poetry web site. A collected gathering of misery from the masses, it was one of the first and best example of reclaiming the teenage self I’ve seen yet.
You get find content related to this up at Sara’s website and lord knows, you may actually want to read her blog. To suggest she’s as an astute an observer of the human condition as they come is an understatement. Vancouver is full of actors and actresses, many of whom who think they are funny but are not. Sara is both funny in person, on camera and in print. If you don’t believe me, ask them.
Sara was smart enough to take teen angst poetry and it’s follow up, Say Wha?, a collection of really awful writings to the stage. Give people an opportunity to express their angst or at least read from Snooki’s autobiography and you’ve got a winning night out. But knowing an international audience is smart enough to want to feel the pain, so you have now been able to take in say wha via Ustream and lord knows, if she’s not podcasting it soon enough, she should be.
You can put music and video and photos online, but when your art require your presence, it takes moxie to get yourself in more than just a webcam video. Case in point miss Bynoe’s doing it right.
