Another serie I completely missed the first time round was Luther, starring Idris Elba as DCI John Luther.

Many, including myself, discovered him in the Wire as the fantastic Russell ‘Stringer’ Bell and he still continues to deliver - quite possibly right now, one of my favorite UK actors. Luther is a rather dark, London based police series, it was only four episodes in total  (two, two-part stories in season 2). I’m hoping for a third season and considering whether or not to go back and see the first season after all.
