Vancouver has a serious indie media thing going on, between Coop Radio, a plethora of web radio stations going and even print possibilities coming up.
So the Grounded TV network fits in perfect. Focusing on culturally and socially relevant content being created and distributed via their own web based TV network, Syd Woodward and the Grounded team have really got something special going on.
The plethora of channels and their different content focus means you’re getting a broad spectrum of stuff coming at you. Musically, Lowpass TV has it’s finger on the pulse of the heavy dance floor, looking at everyone from Eprom to Nosaj Thing. The Word TV looks at a hip hop spectrum from D’angelo to J-Live.
Grounded’s own news feed provides an on the ground perspective on everything from the Occupy Wall Street movement to the Rio Theatre‘s recent struggles with the BC govt over the former movie theatre’s liquor licence.
At the end of the day, Grounded is providing the community a visual outlet for art culture and politics, while at the same, allowing them an opportunity to put their finger in the pie of independent culture.
