Break Out A Mic For Hip-Hop Karaoke

Kuma | June 5th, 2012

Karaoke. It’s one of those forbidden pleasures. A dark art that you won’t admit to doing yet you’ll fully go all out for if you don’t think anyone’s watching.

Since Dec 2009, Hip-Hop Karaoke Vancouver has been making karaoke safe for a generation down in the heart of Chinatown at Fortune Sound Club. The Left coast side of a brand that reps in Toronto and Montreal as well, HHK is simply the best opportunity that you can have in public to  drop the lyrical heat of your fave hip-hop and R&B bangers.

Take the WU records you’ve been singing in the shower, get up on stage and go. Local legend Flipout hosts the goodness once and a month, DJ Seko runs the ones and you, the loving public rock the mic. Anything pretty much goes, Slick Rick, The Wu, Nas, Cypress, it’s all been and done up there on the stage at Fortune Sound.

And you don’t have to worry, Flipout’s been known to get on the mic and join in and the likes of Skratch Bastid, NYC legend Cosmo Baker and even the internet’s own Sexy Sax Man have been known to show up and get down. It’s all love. Speaking of love, there’s even the occasional R&B Karaoke session as well for those of you feeling the need to get your Jodeci or Chaka Khan on.

Karaoke: Not just for your parents anymore.
