Black Metal & Horses

Ragnar Persson has over the past eight years put out more books and zines than most artists do in a lifetime. He has also exhibited all over Sweden and in cities like Paris and Tokyo.

The main reason for his abnormal productivity is that he draws all the time; when he’s on the bus, when he watches TV, and even when he’s out having beers with friends. He obsessively draws whatever interests him that moment until he masters the art of depicting it quickly – everything from birds, horses, bunnies and teenage crushes, to snakes, death metal logos, blood and Satanists. These polar opposite themes in his collage and pencil drawings make for a tantalizing combination to the eyes and mind. His latest work is a series of drawings that illustrate writer and musician Pär Thörn’s novel about a made up black metal murder mystery, heavily inspired by the murder of Mayhem’s guitarist Euronymous.

If you’re interested in this fictional tale about the murder of Robert Risberg, singer and guitarist in the band Satanic Red Storm, you can buy a copy of the recently released book Verkligheten nedtecknas, ges ord, förvanskas och blir del en ny omformad verklighet – Dokument kring mordet på Robert Risberg i Uddevalla 960513 (Reality is recorded, put in words, distorted and becomes part of a new, remodelled reality – Document around the murder of Robert Risberg in Uddevalla 960513) from Orosdi-Back.
