Larry James Has A Posse

Kuma | August 14th, 2012

No, not Larry David, Larry James. You heard this repeatedly during the 2012 edition of Montreal’s Mutek festival.

It’s a good sign, it meant people were talking about the newest name in house music to come out of Vancouver.

Larry David is the combination of Max Ulis and Ryan Trann, two gents who’ve already made a name for themselves in terms of electronic music. Trann as one half of eccentric techno duo, Inkwell and Ulis as a founding member of Vancouver’s Lighta! crew.

So when the two got together, nobody was quite sure what to expect. Techno? Dubstep? Something funky? Not quite.

Larry David is your summer’s soundtrack, deep and groovy house music that feels specifically west coast. It’s the kind of thing that you’d expect Mark Farina or Luke Mckeehan of Nordic Trax records fame to be playing.

There’s nothing signed yet, but with a sparkling live show that was the highlight of many Mutek attendees weeks, you can expect more from these boys in the very near future and it’s all gonna be good.
