The new wave of Disco 2000 referencing club kids dressed in discount Rainbow brand platforms and ironic head shop accessories has found its LA mascot. While it would seem the true guru is 20 year old Labanna Babylon, (at least to me who has been following her since we became acquainted a couple years ago) the star and baddest bitch is Brooke Candy who raps, strips, and kinda seems like a tranny in the best ways. If you thought Kreashawn was a bit too obvious and Hot Topicy, or Nikki Minaj was a fabricated child actress, and wanted to see a true nihilistic female “rapper,” then this is a moment you will enjoy. I know this song is super tacky but that is the point. Tasteless art/fashion and liking Skrillex and amateur rap over amateur beats is the new punk. It’s the Tumblr generation’s version of Atari Teenage Riot, and it is fun and careless and everything youthful rebellion needs to be right now… at least for a week or two.
