Villa is a pop-up contemporary art store. It has many different young artists work aimed at both the wealthy collector and to me (not so wealthy).

Villa has been created by gallery owner Jonas Kleerup together with design bureau Kurppa Hosk and architects Boys Don’t Cry and they really want this years Christmas present to be art. They have a brand new website where you can buy art without ever visiting the store, very handy for any international buyers wanting to pick up some Swedish art from two of my favourites: Makonde Linde and Christian Saldert. Villa is at Jakobs Torg 3, just by the Opera House, best to check their site for opening times.

One of my favourite restaurants which unfortunately shut this summer, is not only re-opening in Stockholm but is also about to open its own deli Oaxen Skafferi around the corner from my office in time for Christmas.

The focus will be on meat products, they have three types of Christmas hams to choose from as well as cold smoked and air dried sausages all made by themselves with the extreme level for handicraft and skill they were noted for when they had the restaurant. They will also sell some hand-picked products from some of Sweden’s best producers.

A few new tracks from Sweden which are just released. The first is the debut single from sisters Lina and Maja Westin  and their band Caviare Days. They make their own style of dark Swedish psychedelic rock via New York.

The Awakening video is directed by Theresa Traore Dahlberg. The second will be a classic New Year’s track, ‘NyÅr’ is by Emil Jensen & Familjen. It’s the perfect bittersweet track to dance in 2012 whilst darkness and snow falls. The track is a duet written by Emil, produced and remixed by Johan and recorded and performed by the two. It can be bought at iTunes. The third and final is by Tony Cederteg over at the art book publishers Library Man  under the name Jony. He has released a 7inch vinyl ‘Fartygets Fingrar’ and there are two videos to accompany the tracks – Ingrid, directed by Adam Saletti & Houri, directed by Todd Jordan.

Fashion store Awesome Rags has just opened its latest venture. 1850 square metres, over two floors on the corner of Hamngatan and Regeringsgatan in the center of Stockholm.

Their other stores can also be found in the city at PUB, Sturegallerian, Fridhemsgatan and they also have one in the suburbs at Nacka Forum. Awesome Rags sells pretty commercial Scandinavian fashion, brands such as Whyred, Acne, Tiger, Filippa K, Resteröds & Dagmar. On the second floor of the new Awesome Rags they have a huge denim area with NEUW, Edwin, Levis Made & Crafted, Denim Demon and Carhartt. A centrally located and rather fresh new store to try out some of the best denim in town.

Denim brand Denim Demon has opened its first store on Södermalm at Åsogatan 174. The store shares the same venue as Mr Mudd and Mr Gold, which I have mentioned in the past as being a great store.

The new store sees the complete Denim Demon collection displayed alongside well-respected brands such as Buzz Ricksons, Lavenham, Lewis Leathers, Pendleton and The Real McCoy’s. The design of the space is by architect Daniel Franzen. I really love this side of Söder, just down the road you have the best new sushi place in town Blue Light Yokohama and round the corner Artes Restaurant and not too far away Galleri Steinsland Berliner.

Design Galleriet is a gallery displaying a number of design based exhibitions. For the fourth year running they have tried to create a very different Christmas exhibition.

Christmas 2.0 sees them inviting 18 design galleries to contribute a specially designed Christmas card to their exhibition. As you can see here, there are some fantastic contributions from the likes of The Form Design Centre in Malmö to the National Craft Gallery in Kilkenny. The exhibition runs from the 1st December till the 22nd.

Swedish chef Niklas Ekstedt has just opened his new restaurant ‘Ekstedt’ which follows 1900 his previous restaurant in Stockholm.

The concept of Ekstedt’s is to cook everything over open fire, either over a fire pit or wood burning oven. Niklas is serving langoustines from the west coast along with Spanish suckling lamb and baked apples, which sounds tasty and rustic, bringing something a little bit different to the Swedish dining scene.

Niklas is well known on  Swedish national TV as program leader on ‘Niklas Mat’ and has also  published three cook books in Sweden. For the launch of the restaurant bag, accessories brand Sandqvist and the shop C-Store he made some limited edition aprons and a knife roll. Ekstedts can be found at Humlegårdsgatan 17 in Stockholm and I’ll be trying it out soon.

Swedish Hassbeens recently made a short film of their acclaimed collection performance, which showcased their Spring/Summer 2012 shoe and accessories collection.

After running the Saturday Klubb Ace at Mango for over 5 years, Daniel Öhrn and the club Ace crew go the chance to take over Mango’s old premises and have now created a club that concentrates entirely on the indie scene.

Every Friday and Saturday the large dance-floor concentrates on everything from Gothenburg pop, to indie, rock, post-punk. The Clash, Ramones to new bands like MGMT & Cut Copy can be heard. The small dance-floor is a place for dance music DJ’s to play electro, tech house and finally the top floor is for tribute and specialist niche nights, like Madchester & early 90′s lo-fi. It’s time for the Stockholm Film Festival, the time of year when I get to load up on a pile of new movies. The film festival always has some remarkably great films both local and international and pulls some great directors over.

This year I’m thinking of seeing the following films, The Lady, Kill List, Jiri Dreams of Sushi and Hara-Kiri Death of a Samurai. Now I just have to fight it out with everyone else to get hold of tickets.
