I’ve had the good fortune of staying in some pretty solid hotels whenever I’ve had the opportunity to travel. And while I really enjoy the whole, not having to clean up after myself aspect, I’m not really the hotel type. This past SXSW in Austin, Texas, I shared a quaint but fantastic house with several friends and it was an incredible experience. There was something about spending time in a lived in space: being able to wake up in the morning (and by that, I mean around noon either still drunk or hungover) shades on, drink in hand, while sitting on the patio of this house with a cigarette dangling from my mouth enjoying the beautiful spring weather.

Now, with iStopOver.com, I can potentially relive a very similar experience but in cities like Barcelona, London, Auckland, New York, LA and more. Basically, the website links ‘hosts,’ people all over the world who have their living spaces up for rent with people like me and my fellow degenerate friends who won’t have to worry about more functional hotel guests who don’t appreciate us being loud drunks at five in the morning. Clicking on a particular listing gives you multiple views of the living space and you can easily contact the host if you have any questions.

The Morning, the fourth song on the nine track album is a hazy, narcotic influenced R&B song (or as this music and the music of Frank Ocean and How to Dress Well is being classified, PBR&B) about a very long night filled with subversive behavior, controlled substances and the sort of women who don’t object to having wads of cash stuffed into their small underwear. For someone like me who may have had more of these nights than I can remember, I appreciate and extremely relate to it.

House Of Balloons is perfect for when you’re coming down from MDMA or if you associate with women who have a penchant for tattoos, hard liquor, five inch heels and snug black dresses like I do.

For better and worse, these are my people; I’m not Italian but I am a Yankee and like much of the cast, a New Yorker. We can be (and often are) loud, abrasive, arrogant assholes. Some of us tan all year round and obnoxiously fist pump to repetitive (and mostly terrible) house music… we are not everyone’s taste to say the least.

But we do however make some hilarious television.

So yes, I can say without the slightest hint of shame that I’m ready for another season of grenades, t-shirt time and GTL as the Jersey Shore cast take their uhh… talents to the mother country of Italy in this new season arriving in August.

If his next movie is about him directing a film about watching paint dry, I would be there opening day.

Sure, his films are prone to running a bit long (‘Dark Knight’ should have been at least half an hour shorter and did the van in ‘Inception’ need to take that f*cking long to fall in the damn water?) and his female characters tend to be bland and dispensable. But is there any other director out right now flawlessly blending Michael Bay like, mindlessly entertaining and visually dazzling aesthetics with highbrow, almost art house type themes? (From the nature of science, ‘magic’ and showmanship in ‘The Prestige’ to the hyper lucid dreaming, ‘what is reality and consciousness’ mindf*ck of ‘Inception).

So even though Christian Bale’s Batman voice really annoys me, I’m already head over heels excited about Dark Knight Rises, even though it doesn’t come out until next summer. Oh and did I mention Tom Hardy, the dandyish bad ass Brit that stole the show in Inception is playing Bane? Thank you Based God for Christopher Nolan.

America’s Best Dance Crew, my favorite reality dance show and one of my favorite television shows in general, is back for its sixth season. This year, there’s an all girl crew from New Zealand of all places, a crew of ten year olds from the Jersey Shore representing for the future guidos of America and even a pole dancing (yes, you read that correctly) crew. If you’re not glued to your television set every Thursday night at 10pm, I’m not really sure what the hell you’re doing with your life.

Go for the assortment of pictures but stay for the dizzying array of drink recipes and drinking games that will likely make you a few new friends by the end of the night (it should be noted the vast majority of recipes are more geared towards college students, so don’t expect to learn how the make the perfect Manhattan).
