Name: Sage R.

City: Portland, OR

Sage is the epitome of Portland style. She has been in Portland for four years and plans to stay there indefinitely.  She is obsessed with vintage fashion, and spends most of her time hunting for unique finds in Portland’s many thrift stores.  She is a manager and buyer at a clothing store called Magpie, which is 80% vintage and 20% local Portland clothing designers.  In the coming year, she plans on opening up her own store with two of her friends, selling their own creations alongside clothes they find in thrift stores.

Sage describes herself as very observant and detail-oriented.  As a fashion buyer, she has to be attuned to clothing trends, which she is constantly on the lookout for — “I notice anything I see twice.”  She is deeply immersed in the world of aesthetics, but she constantly references other things driven by her passion for sociology, literature, music.  In addition to her aesthetic appreciation, she makes things: oil paintings, jewelry and eclectic accessories.

She goes out about four nights per week, usually to fashion-related events or live shows, and she describes her social role as “the glue.  I do a lot of introducing and networking.”
