And it&#8217;s pretty freaking exciting.</p>
<p><span id="more-848"></span><a href="http://www.electricliterature.com/" target="_blank">Electric Literature </a>has a new concept: only publish on Kindle, iPhone, eBook, or print-on-demand; pay $1,000/story to attract great writers; and pair each short story with an animator to make a trailer for it. Their Brooklyn-based staff of two wants to see short stories returned to the hearts and minds of the mainstream &#8212; to a time where authors had cachet, people were reading Raymond Carver in everyday places like Harper&#8217;s Bazaar and Esquire, and well, there was a market for short fiction</p>

<p><a href="http://www.canopycanopycanopy.com" target="_blank">Triple Canopy</a> is an online magazine that seeks content designed specifically for the internet rather than stories that could work just as well in print. Their themes are high concept, and in my opinion, a bit esoteric. It&#8217; s exciting that they are about to release their seventh issue, but I hope they&#8217;ll lay off the  academic and start getting a little more fun. I love the web design:</p>
