As a child, very few albums of my parents’ really struck a serious chord within me. One such album, however, was Rumors by Fleetwood Mac, particularly Gold Dust Woman. I became fascinated with Stevie Nicks and her personal style, and I have to say, I’m still fascinated. Whether the revisiting of  Mac’s feelgood 70’s music has in-part been inspiration I’m not sure, but I feel myself wanting to emulate Stevie in layers of chiffon, crochet, silks and velvets.

The White-Winged dove. I would kill to see Stevie, I really would. Her stage presence is kind of amazing. You see your gypsy.

RCRDLBL.COM lets me listen and legally download songs from featured bands on its site. And surprisingly enough, many of them are bands with members I know. This makes me happy.

GIRLS is a San Francisco band consisting of two members: Christopher Owens and JR White. Their sound is quirky folk rock which reminds me of the spirit of 90s alt-band PAVEMENT.

I went to LA club The Echo last Sunday and thoroughly enjoyed NITE JEWEL, the brain child of Ramona Gonzalez. Her music is kind of an atmospheric disco:  a combo of danceable beats and shoe gaze rhythm. Here’s her video:

While on Pitchfork, I came across an amazing remix of the Fleetwood Mac song “Seven Wonders” by a DJ who goes by the name PICTUREPLANE. The song is called “Goth Star” and it is now a fixture on mix cds I make for anyone. It’s my jam!

JAY REATARD is a name which keeps coming up in discussions with friends.  It’s a name you don’t forget.  It made me curious. While I really wanted to not like it at first, after downloading songs from different albums he has a noise pop style he is working, which I appreciated.
