I’m currently addicted to the boards at craftster.org.  It’s an awesome site full of DIY spirit and modern attitudes, with tons of great tutorials and project sharing.  The best part is that everyone is friendly and there are no ignorant haters fouling it up.
My cross-stitched bookmark of a John Waters quote got almost 9,000 views:
In Miami, the site offtheradarmusic.com is great.  Run by several local DJs and music fans, it links to tons of new music and posts lots of MP3s.  They’ve been doing it for years and have amassed a following and turned people on to a ton of new music.
Local artists Friendswithyou (http://www.friendswithyou.com/) have one of the cutest sites on the Internet, period.  They started out years ago making strange plush dolls and now have a while line of toys and merch with Kid Robot and make commercials for Pop Tarts!

GIRLS is a San Francisco band consisting of two members: Christopher Owens and JR White. Their sound is quirky folk rock which reminds me of the spirit of 90s alt-band PAVEMENT.
I went to LA club The Echo last Sunday and thoroughly enjoyed NITE JEWEL, the brain child of Ramona Gonzalez. Her music is kind of an atmospheric disco:  a combo of danceable beats and shoe gaze rhythm.

While on Pitchfork, I came across an amazing remix of the Fleetwood Mac song “Seven Wonders” by a DJ who goes by the name PICTUREPLANE. The song is called “Goth Star” and it is now a fixture on mix cds I make for anyone. It’s my jam!
JAY REATARD is a name which keeps coming up in discussions with friends.  It’s a name you don’t forget.  It made me curious. While I really wanted to not like it at first, after downloading songs from different albums he has a noise pop style he is working, which I appreciated.

RCRDLBL.COM lets me listen and legally download songs from featured bands on its site. And surprisingly enough, many of them are bands with members I know. This makes me happy.
