Girls (the show, not the band) is a Sex and the City for a hip generation of people without jobs, thus more realistic in its portrayal of city life. They even make a nod to S&tC in the 1st or 2nd episode, and one girl says she has “never seen that show.”
I wrote about Lena Dunham’s film Tiny Furniture a while back and never even watched it cuz I never got the chance. Hyper self-aware “mumble-core” humor doesn’t usually make me laugh, but this show entertains. Though I am not sure I want to admit it yet, I am pretty confident that I will watch this show start to finish just like an issue of VICE in an employee breakroom. It’s funny, and I am curious where it will lead.
