When I say hot I mean popular. July has been the month of corporate parties. First up was The Fader event Upcapped at The Lumberyard skate park (flyer above for lineup) which offered you all the free Heineken and Heineken Light you could fit your purse tummy. Followed by a Vice party for their new alcoholic drink called AIR, which actually was pretty tasty for 95 calories a can and I would prolly think to buy this on future trips to the liquor store (flyer below).
Last was the Vans and IAMSOUND Records party at Holocene, with interactive art, merch giveaways, food trucks, and… music from the Thermals, Fidlar, and DJ Bobby Dangerous (flyer at bottom). Out of the three this was the only one I didn’t attended but actually in some ways sounded like the most fun out of the bunch if you like Koi Fusion Food cart tacos for FREE!
All these shows were free with RSVP, aka, they just want your email and for free booze and bands it’s all yours corporate suits! I talked with my friend about why this all happened in the same week and we came to the conclusion that Portland in July is the sh*t. August it gets hotter and you’re either out of town or at the river any chance you can get. But if you like free events in the summer you’ve got to remember all summer long the OG of corporate DJ filled events is Adidas’s The Do-Over at Produce Row, every first Sunday all summer long and by far, this is the coolest free thing to do in town.
