I have noticed that ballerinas have been a meme for several months now. Perhaps it is because they are pristine and unchanged by the increasing frequency of nauseum in the world, and the minimalism provides us with some respite (like in this video). The movie Black Swan seems to be contrariwise unsettling, focusing on the pressures and vicious battles of being part of a ballet company. Many of my friends have been anticipating and posting the trailer to Facebook for months and now that it is out everyone is raving. Black Swan is directed by Darren Aronofsky who made that great movie The Wrestler, that piece of shit Requiem For a Dream, as well as NIN-vibed Pi.
